Join us for a weekend to build with clay and watch artists create with clay!

Saturday

• Hand Building for Visitors – Explore air-dry clay through various hand building activities (This is a make-and-take activity) 
• Glazing activity – Learn about the various stages of the glazing process and try your hand at painting some glazes on a collaborative ceramics piece
• Wheel Throwing Demonstrations by Local Potters

Sunday

• Throwing on the potter’s wheel
  Visitors can sign up for time slots to work on a pottery wheel guided by our teaching artists. Participants will be given a ball of clay and instructed on how to throw a pot on the wheel with the assistance of Museum staff.

Pottery Wheel Activity Details

• Sign ups for throwing on the pottery wheel will be taken starting on Noon on Sunday, January 8, in Studio Lab in MuseumLab
• Sign ups are on first come, first served basis
• We will give as many people as we can a chance to try throwing on the potter’s wheel, but not all visitors will be guaranteed a chance to engage in this activity due to time and staff constraints. If the time slots fill up, there will be a waiting list that will be utilized in the event someone does not use their full allotted time
• This activity is for experimentation and learning purposes only. Visitors will not be able to take home what they throw on the pottery wheel; these pots will not be fired and we will recycle the clay
