MuseumLab is committed to providing exhibits, programs and public spaces that are inclusive and interactive for all visitors. Our staff have been trained on how to help visitors with various needs.

  • Accessible parking is available in our parking lot
  • Wheelchair accessible ramps lead to the front entrance and right (south) side of the building
  • MuseumLab is accessible by elevator
  • An adult changing table is located in one of the first floor family bathrooms
  • A Museum map is available at the Admissions desk when you visit

These services are also available upon request, free of charge. A staff member will be happy to assist you:

  • Wheelchairs — available on a first-come, first-served basis. Motorized wheelchairs are always permitted.
  • Versatile Velcro lap tables, adjustable to fit most wheelchairs
  • Sighted guides for descriptive tours — please call 412-322-5058 two weeks in advance to schedule a tour.
  • American Sign Language tours — please call 412-322-5058 two weeks in advance to schedule a tour.

MuseumLab will grant free admission to any therapeutic staff support, counselor, doctor, therapist or nurse that accompanies a visitor as part of their professional responsibilities. Documentation must be provided at the Admissions Desk at the time of the visit that verifies that the individual is certified to perform the work and is in the active engagement of the work during the visit. Employee badge or valid photo identification is required.

Service Animals

Registered service dogs and miniature horses are welcome in MuseumLab and Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Animals such as “comfort animals” or “therapy animals” are not service animals as defined by the ADA and are therefore not allowed into the Museum. The Museum occasionally offers programs that includes these types of animals — check the Calendar of Events for details.
