Designed to nurture young creatives as they grow their understanding of and skills in metalworking

MuseumLab is seeking youth in grades 8 – 11 who are interested in working with metalworking tools, materials and processes to explore creative ideas.

the basics

The residency is not a formal training or certificate program.

  • Eligible students must currently be in grades 8 – 11
  • Previous experience with metals or other sculptural mediums is highly recommended
  • Up to 8 students will be selected to take part in the residency program

details

Students must be able to attend at least (7) of the (10) residency sessions at MuseumLab on these dates (all Mondays). Food will be provided at each session:

  • March 18, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • March 25, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • April 1, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • April 8, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • April 15, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • April 22, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • April 29, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • May 6, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • May 13, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
  • May 20, 4:00 – 6:00 pm

Each student will receive a $100 materials budget.

The residency may take field trips to visit artists’ studios or galleries.

Students will have the opportunity to document their work for personal or portfolio use.

Transportation assistance (bus tickets) is available as needed.

There is no fee to apply.  

Selected artists will be notified by Monday, March 11.  In order to participate, selected artists will be required to submit a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
