Nature Journaling

Develop nature journaling techniques to explore the world around you. You’ll leave this workshop with a customized nature journal ready to fill with more observations, perceptions and feelings about your environment.

Intro to Oil Painting
January 22

Learn how to use oil paints as we explore mixing paint to create color palettes, talk about the many oil mediums and how to use them, and make several paintings on canvas.

Sewing: Swapping Sleeves
January 28

Create a new, unique shirt from thrifted clothing! Learn or practice sewing skills like using a seam ripper, pinning and sewing pieces together.

Pewter Casting with Clay

Create a miniature sculpture with polymer clay and cast it in pewter. You’ll take home your new creations.

Learn how to draw the human body in a variety of different poses from a live model.  We’ll use charcoal to explore ways to approach depicting figures on paper.

Stamp Making

Design, carve and print with your very own stamp! In this introduction to linoleum block printing, you will learn the process of creating a rubber stamp that is uniquely yours. Create any design you want to print on paper, fabric, wood, and more; learn carving practices and printing techniques. What will you stamp?

Articulated Paper Figures

Learn about how an artist draws figures through this older art form. Articulated figures were once common play items and many now adorn the walls of MuseumLab. We will learn about the  history of articulated figures and make several ourselves.

Sewing Machine 101
March 5
2:30 – 4:30 pm
Learn the basics of using a sewing machine. Practice setting up the machine, sewing straight and curved lines, and learning different ways to attach fabric. Leave with a small project and the confidence to sew independently.
