The twelve paintings from Kathy Mazur’s Sounds of Silence series, serve as abstract interpretations of selected ASL signs. With signs such as “change”, “trust”, “forgive” and “patience”, the series speaks of a kind of evolution through the words chosen and their fluid artistic representations. Kathy uses vibrant colors and clean lines to create movement and emotion.
Kathy Mazur is a visual artist from Pittsburgh, who, after 35 years in a corporate job, discovered her love for painting. With no formal training, Kathy’s work is experimental and seeks to capture the joy and growth that painting as a medium brings out in her. Often focusing on natural scenery and cityscapes, Mazur’s newest series The Sounds of Silence takes on a new perspective, and sheds light on different kinds of communication.
